Xiaomi Mi3 India pre-orders scheduled for July 15th, costs Rs14,999

Xiaomi, the third largest smartphone manufacturer in China, has been expanding into new markets recently, and India is the next country in the company’s sights. Following on from the popular rollout of its Redmi Note, Xiaomi is now preparing to launch its next smartphone in the country, the Mi3.

In terms of hardware, the Xiaomi Mi3 is a familiar high end affair. For starters, the handset is 5 inches in size, and comes with a full HD (1080p) display. The smartphone features a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, with Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, as well as a microSD card expansion slot. The Xiaomi Mi3 sports a 13MP camera with dual-LED flash on the back and a 2MP camera in front, comes with NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, and 2G/3G network compatibility, and a good sized 3,050 mAh battery.

The Mi3 is built from an aluminium-magnesium alloy, which weighs 145 grams and is 8.1mm thick. On the software side of things, the handset is powered by Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and has Xiaomi’s own MIUI user interface and Mi Cloud services for contact and message backups. Alongside the device, Xiaomi has also listed two power banks, with 10,400 mAh and 5,200 mAh battery capacities, if you’re in need of even more battery life.

The Xiaomi Mi 3 is currently listed on the company’s India website, and pre-registrations will go live on July 15th at a cost of Rs 14,999. The Mi3 previously sold out on its launch day in Malaysia in just 17 minutes, so it might be wise to put your order in quickly before stock sells out.
