New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to choose its next national president. Senior BJP leader Amit Shah's name has almost been finalised for the post.
However, the BJP Parliamentary board is likely to meet on Wednesday to nominate Shah as the next party president. The board meeting is likely to take place between July 9 and 11 before Prime Minister Narendra Modi leaves for the BRICS Summit.
The new party president will be replacing the existing BJP president and Home Minister Rajnath Singh for the remaining 18 months of his three-year term.
The BJP Parliamentary board is likely to meet this week to nominate Shah as the next party president.
Shah was last week accorded a 'Z-plus' category security by the Home Ministry following high threat perception, official sources said. The BJP leader, who was instrumental in the party's landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh in Lok Sabha elections, has so far been under the security of Gujarat Police.
