The government said it will go the extra mile to seek the cooperation of all in ensuring a smooth and productive Budget Session of Parliament, which is set to kick off next week. "It will be a smooth and productive session. We want cooperation of all. It will be a session that will transact a good amount of business," Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Prakash Javadekar, told PTI.

Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, "We want cooperation of all and will go the extra mile to get it." Javadekar's remarks came soon after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu today discussed with his colleagues the business to be transacted during the Budget Session, which starts on July 7.

"It (budget session) will have a real discussion on the various issues that the nation is facing," he said. Javadekar said his party believes in cooperation of all and, although Modi has stated that BJP has enough numbers to run the government, "we want cooperation of all in running the country. He (prime minister) has said that it is the team PM-CM -- with that spirit we are going to the Parliament session with confidence."

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has convened a meeting of the leaders of all parties on Saturday to ensure the smooth conduct of the Budget Session, which is expected to conclude on August 14.

The session is significant as it will see the first budget of the Modi government. While the railway budget will be presented on July 8, the Economic Survey will be released on July 9 and is to be followed by the presentation of the General Budget on July 10.
